Most businesses will have regular weekly or monthly marketing communications they need to send out, especially in Financial Services. Whether it be a fund update or a weekly insight, often as financial marketers you’ll be creating some of the same types of emails week in and week out.

Whilst the result of sending many emails is a great way of keeping clients informed and you’ll often get a nice response from the continued communication, the actual email build itself can be time consuming and tie down scarce resources when you need them the most. For this reason, email builders come in handy to help keep up with deadlines and optimise email marketing efforts.

What is an Email Builder?

An email builder is a drag-and-drop tool where you can add, remove or change different layouts, throughout the body of your email – ultimately saving time, and freeing up resources.

For example, in StoneShot’s email builder, the layouts are divided into sections and there is no limit on the number of layouts you can add to a master email template. So, if your company has different branding styles, you can incorporate any of them in one template, without external help on building or designing a whole other communication or assets.

One Builder template can cover communications such as newsletters, marketing insights, and event emails. You can build the template internally if you have the resources or look to an outside agency like StoneShot to help design it, code it up, and test it for you.

How Email Builders Work

Email builders are meant to be easy to use. After the master template has been created (internally or with a little external agency help), putting it to use is a simple case of selecting the layouts you want, updating the email content and sending it out. Below is a quick example of how it looks in the StoneShot app.

Each layout within the email is completely editable and easy to use. You can drag and drop the layout to different sections within the email or completely delete it if it’s not needed in a particular case.

When editing any text in your email, the styles are already set for the body text and links, so you won’t have to worry about making sure your links are the right colour or your title text is the correct size. These are all predefined and set by the builder, allowing you to add your content and move on.

Within this particular builder, there’s lots of different layout options to choose from – ultimately making it possible to create many emails from a single template.

Each of these layouts will have their own specific attributes and they can be used as many or as few times as you wish.

Email builders are a great way to streamline your current email marketing process. By using builders, you can work more efficiently, send more communications, and use your resources wisely.
Just drag in the layouts you wish, add the content, give the email a test, and launch it to your audience time and time again.
